Targeted Curriculum
The Targeted Curriculum initiative provides another avenue to enhance public education through curriculum that is centered on our Tracy community. The Targeted Curriculum initiative establishes targeted programs including curriculum resources and field trips and makes them available to Tracy teachers to incorporate into their lesson plans. At this time the Targeted Curriculum topic areas are:
- Tracy's History - working with the Tracy Historical Museum and Westside Pioneer Association to promote access for more students to visit the Museum, Historic Lammersville School and other historical resources in and around the community.
In 2004 the Foundation developed the Tracy History Coloring Book. The history of Tracy is presented in the form of a coloring book with text designed for primary grade students.
See Tracy History for more information.
- Tracy's Nature - working with local environmental/natural resource agencies, organizations and groups to develop curriculum resources and observation of the unique natural Delta, rangeland and farmland, and foothill environments surrounding Tracy
The Foundation has developed the Tracy Nature Activity Fun Book. The activity fun book, is designed for 4th and 5th grade students. It will be available in the fall of 2008 and highlights key examples and elements of Tracy's natural environment. Initial development of the fun book was supported by a grant from the Great Valley Center/Citigroup Success Fund.
